Hurricane Relief for SFEA members – How you can help

Oct 8, 2024

If you are looking for ways to help the SFEA community and its members in the aftermath of this hurricane season, here are some ways that you can help and get involved:

Douglas-Coffee County, GA:

Our friends at the Douglas-Coffee County Chamber of Commerce in Georgia shared a link to their hurricane relief fund to assist with clean-up efforts and feeding linemen and volunteers. If you are willing and able to help, you can donate here, or contact Stephanie Childers, our member and local contact, for information on how to help in person.

Johnson City, TN:

Visit Johnson City & AVM Enterprises Partner to Provide Hurricane Helene Relief
JOHNSON CITY, TENNESSEE – In the wake of Hurricane Helene, Visit Johnson City recognizes the regional devastation of Northeast Tennessee and remains committed to residents, partners, and relief efforts, as traditional operations pivot to support the recovery of Appalachia.
Capitalizing on established relationships and the organizational culture of hospitality, Visit Johnson City has partnered with AVM Enterprises, Tennessee-based supply distributor, to facilitate AVM Helping Hands – The Simple Way to Give. To make it easier to support Tennesseans who have been impacted by Helene, Helping Hands opens the bulk, wholesale market to the general public. Travel-size amenities typically cost approximately $1 each, when purchased individually, but when you donate through AVM, 144 individually wrapped toothbrushes are available for $14.95, about 10 cents per unit. The sizable savings maximize dollars and create a more profound impact on contributions.
AVM donations can be ordered online and will not be assessed freight fees. Direct delivery to the Johnson City Visitor Center at 302 Buffalo St in Downtown Johnson City is recommended. The Visit Johnson City team will process and deliver contributions to partner agencies and donation sites, who will then identify where the need is greatest. The public is invited to visit goavm.com/helpinghands.aspx to review supply options and process their contribution.
As the transition from rescue to recovery efforts continue, Visit Johnson City acknowledges the long road ahead and will continue to be a supporter in these endeavors for the betterment of the community.
