Awards give our organization a public “pat on the back.” But getting that award is trickier than it seems. Style, substance, supporting materials, length of submission and more are all factors judges examine when combing through a nomination. This discussion gives you tips and guidelines on putting together a winning nomination that will minimize your costs and time, and maximize your chances of grabbing the brass ring. Bring in your old submissions so the attendees can critique them.
10:30a – 11:00a Break/Introductions
11:00a-Noon Social Media Strategies for pre and post Event Marketing
Don Crow, Founder of Verge Pipe Media and Co-Founder of Event Tatical
Does your Event or Festival have a coordinated strategy to not only promote but also create conversations with guests? This discussion will focus on using Facebook and Twitter as part of an overall guest experience strategy that uses the most popular social media platforms as a communications and marketing channel. We’ll focus mainly on pre event communications, but will also touch on how to leverage your fan base to create “brand ambassadors.” About Don Crow: Don is an experienced marketing, communications and operations entrepreneur who founded Verge Pipe Media in 2010 to help brands tell their digital story and transition into the world of social media and mobile technology. He co-founded Event Tactical earlier this year as a way to focus on the need within the Events and Festivals community to give “real time” customer service to guests.
Noon – 1:00p Lunch
1:00p-2:30p Building Events within an Event
Amy Doherty, Special Events Manager for the City of Suwanee, Ga.
How do you promote an event and engage your community? How do you utilize your volunteers so that they assist in its overall success? In this fun and creative session, we will discuss how to create “events within events” thus keeping a continued interest and excitement for your event each and every year.
2:30p-3:00p Brainstorm Bash
Did you not have quite enough time to network and talk amongst your peers at lunch? Still looking for that “A-Ha!” moment for your event? Share your hurdles, as well as your successes, knowing that you’re among industry friends and have the best audience for developing some new ideas and solutions.
